MDPI Boston Editors Summit

On 5 and 6 June 2025, MDPI hosted the MDPI Boston Editors Summit, bringing together over 20 members of our Editorial Board, as well as staff from multiple offices, to facilitate discussion about the future and challenges of academia and open access publishing.

The two-day event began on 5 June 2025 with a welcoming speech from our CEO, followed by dinner and networking. The main event encompasesd many thought-provoking presentations and Q&A sessions, held on the following day. Specifically, MDPI staff spoke about the company, its goals and growth, AI in publishing, the editorial process and research integrity at MDPI, the 2024 Voice of Customer results, and finally, our society partnerships. The Q&A sessions generated abundant discussion around the role of Editorial Board Members, various MDPI initiatives, and Artificial Intelligence.

The MDPI 2025 Boston Summit materialized through a successful collaboration between staff and scholars discussing the future of academic publishing. We are thankful to all attendees for their part in making this event possible and for contributing to its success. We look forward to our next North American Summit in Houston in June 2025.
